Contra 4 DS

The Contra series, like any great and popular videogame franchise, has been spun-out into sequels almost at a bi-yearly rate since the creation in the arcade two decades ago. Contra games have been produced on systems across the whole spectrum, from the NES classics to the Genesis and Super NES, eventually moving into 3D on the PlayStation and Saturn, and ultimately capping off (currently, anyway) on the PlayStation 2 in Contra: Shattered Soldier and NeoContra.
Each sequel had its ups, downs, pros, and cons, but ask the hardcore fanatics which one’s their favorite and chances are they’ll harken back to the old-school trilogy: Contra, Super C, or Contra III.

Back on Game Boy Advance there was an amazing obsession with pocket first-person shooters. 3D environments were no easy task on the hardware, with most efforts resorting to classic raycasting engines circa Doom and Wolfenstein, but for some reason thatdevelopment bug ran wild for a few glorious years of low frame, low res FPS goodness.

For whatever reason though, pocket FPS development has slowed down considerably since the release of the Nintendo DS, with only the mediocre Goldeneye: Rogue Agent, impressive first-party Metroid Prime Hunters, and recently released survival horror Dementium: The Ward.

Pursuit Force – Extreme Justice (PSP)

More over-the-top than its predecessor, Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice has players taking the role of a commander who is the highest ranking operational officer as well as four new playable characters, all of whom are responsible for tracking down and bringing to justice five hardcore street gangs in and around Capital City. As a member of a special police unit known as the Pursuit Force, this time around players engage in high-speed action to traverse land, air and sea in their continued battle to rid the city of crime which includes three new gangs. Featuring more than 50 criminal cases set among seven distinct environments, players have access to 12 different vehicle types which include hovercrafts and boss vehicles that are each unique and specifically designed for boss encounter missions. Extreme Justice also offers an expanded weapons arsenal to assist players in the pursuit of justice. Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice also introduces multiplayer capabilities to the franchise with up to four players in Ad Hoc mode.
